Heart of Summer Recap

Hi lovelies!

Sorry, I wasn’t able to post on Saturday after the Heart of Summer because I thought I might have a stress fracture in my foot. My foot is fine now, thank goodness, but I was worried. I couldn’t put weight on it at all. Every time I took a step, sharp pain would radiate throughout my foot and a little way up my leg. So I went home and elevated it and put ice on it for a long time and took Tylenol. I got a lot of sleep that night and was fine in the morning. I think it was just too soon to walk that much after spraining my ankle two weeks ago, and I think the pain was related to the sprain.

So my good friend Erica and I went to the Heart of Summer at Lake Nokomis! The Heart of Summer is a 5K/10K walk/run that is sponsored by the company I work for. While we were there, we ran into another person we know, Anna! Here is Erica and I at the start line. We walked the 5K because of my ankle.

The sun came out and it was good and hot πŸ™‚Β  It didn’t rain, like the forecast had predicted. Look at how many people there were!

We went to the end of the line because we knew we were planning on walking and didn’t want to be in anyone’s way LOL

These pictures don’t show nearly everyone. There were CROWDS of people. I couldn’t believe it. These pictures are just from the 5K. There was a man in his nineties who ran the 10K! Wow πŸ™‚ we cheered him on as he ran by.

Lake Nokomis was so beautiful! I’ve never walked around it before.

Can you see the little ducky below?

Happily swimming, all by its little self~

Here’s my time for walking —

I had to take a picture as I walked up to it πŸ™‚

It was so funny because as we were walking up to it, we saw the clock tick to an hour. We were like, “should we run and do it in under an hour?” but we just decided to keep walking LOL

Here is the three of us at the timed runner’s finish line:

It was a beautiful day. I had to take a picture. Look at the sky!

After that, Erica and I decided to go to the Mall of America to treat ourselves to lunch and we ended up at Bubba Gump Shrimp LOL πŸ™‚ good times!

Then, we went to IKEA across the street because Erica is moving in a few weeks. I LOVE Ikea. I saw a lot of art I like and really wanted but need to save up for. Right as we were getting close to the checkout area, my foot started to hurt pretty bad and I knew I had to stay off it. So I had wanted to go to the coffee shop to post the day’s recap for ya’ll (still don’t have internet at home), but I couldn’t with my foot.

The Heart of Summer was so fun! It was my first 5K! πŸ™‚ I was so excited. I decided that next year, I’m going to run it! It’s going to be awesome. It felt really good to get fresh air and sunshine, and be outside getting exercise. I realized I really like exercising outside, and I think I’m going to try to do a lot of my C25K training outside.

I’ll have a product review in my next post πŸ™‚ stay tuned…
